sports, Books, Sobriety, Punchlines

Hey. I’m Joel. I’m making this site because I put the url in the author bio of my upcoming book and—even though it seems silly—would rather be the protagonist in a Final Destination film than disappoint my readers.

My work blends memoir, pop-culture & academias to create a style that is authentic to me as possible. Please check it out if inclined.

My background is in comedy. I am still active on the NYC scene as well as starring in the popular NFL Fan Therapy webseries.

I am also a ghostwriter, penning memoirs for prominent individuals seeking to amplify their story in book form.

More than anything else I am known for a basketball tournament. The Big Walkowski started as a joke and has grown into a foundational piece of the NYC social scene. We are also a fully fledged 501c and raise money for organ donation through LiveOn New York.

I also facilitate sobriety groups. I think I’m good at it (even though I once told the group a good way to deal with an urge was by purchasing a yo-yo).

Probably the best book on sports fandom

I spent three decades watching the Detroit Lions lose and accepted that it changed me in a profound way. I wrote a book about the team and my father, juxtaposing how the experience of loving a losing team was similar to a special needs father. Disappointment is built into the foundation. How do we keep showing up?
